Dive Monkey — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Dive Monkey ("the app") handles your information. Dive Monkey is developed by Paweł Wiszenko and Artur Kęsik, trading as Dive Monkey ("we", "us"). If you have any questions, contact us via the contact page.

Your account and sync

You can use Dive Monkey without an account: in demo mode, everything you enter stays on your device and the app does not contact any server. Creating an account is optional and lets you keep your logbook in sync across your devices.

If you create an account, we process your email address and the name you provide, a unique user ID, and the content you add to your logbook — such as dives, dive sites and their coordinates, conditions, gear, buddies, notes, and the marine life you record — together with your app preferences. We use this data only to provide your account and keep your logbook in sync (performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone other than the service provider below.

Account data is stored with Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), which processes it on our behalf. Google may process it on servers outside the European Economic Area, under appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Firebase may also process limited technical data, such as your IP address and device information, needed to run and secure the service.

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account), which permanently deletes the account, all of its dives, and your atlas progress.

Maps

Dive Monkey shows places on a map provided by Apple Maps (MapKit) on iOS and Google Maps on Android. To draw the map, the provider receives the map area you view and technical data such as your IP address, under its own privacy policy. Dive Monkey never requests or reads your device's location.

Purchases

Dive Monkey offers optional in-app purchases. All payments are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — we never see or store your payment information. The store provides us only the limited, non-identifying information needed to deliver and restore your purchases.

Depending on the features you use, Dive Monkey may rely on:

Children

Dive Monkey is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, and receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO). You can edit your logbook and delete your account directly in the app; for any other request, contact us. We comply with the GDPR; the joint data controllers are Paweł Wiszenko and Artur Kęsik (Dive Monkey).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the "last updated" date above.
